Allergy Awareness

Stillwater Area Public Schools is committed to providing safe learning environments for students and staff with allergies and asthma. To help reduce exposure to allergens, families, students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to avoid the use of heavily scented products and to be mindful of food and latex allergies. Latex balloons are not permitted on school property.

Animals in the Classroom

Animals may occasionally be used to support classroom instruction. The district follows health and safety procedures designed to minimize exposure to allergens and ensure the safe handling of animals. Parents should notify the school if their child has an allergy or medical concern related to classroom animals.

Indoor Air Quality and Asbestos Management

The district maintains comprehensive Indoor Air Quality and Asbestos Management programs in accordance with state and federal requirements. School buildings are regularly inspected and monitored to provide healthy learning environments, and asbestos-containing materials are managed in accordance with applicable regulations. The district's Asbestos Management Plan is available for public review upon request.

Lead in Drinking Water

The district monitors drinking water and conducts testing in accordance with Minnesota Department of Health guidance. Information about the district's drinking water program and test results is available on the district website.

Pesticide Use

The district uses an Integrated Pest Management program that emphasizes prevention and minimizes pesticide use whenever possible. When pesticide applications are necessary, they are performed by licensed applicators in accordance with state law. Parents and guardians may request advance notice of pesticide applications by contacting the Facilities Department.

Radon Testing

Stillwater Area Public Schools voluntarily tests school buildings for radon as part of its commitment to providing safe learning environments. Radon testing information and results are available on the district website.
