SAHS student named MN Journalist of the Year Finalist
Stillwater Area High School senior Alex Steil has been selected among the top 3 Journalist of the Year Finalists for the state of Minnesota. Steil is the Editor-in-Chief of the Pony Express student newspaper and Team Lead for the Kabekonian yearbook. Journalist of the Year candidates had to create a digital portfolio of their work that reflects their writing skills, multimedia background, leadership, and application of press law and ethics.
Here's what the judge said about Steil’s submission:
“‘News matters … the story matters.’ Steil’s craft in writing provides the reader an in-depth look at the stories of their community. Their talent with their online channel allowed for unique additions – such as polling and unique stylizing for bloggers – which reflects the multimodal wave of online publication design. Steil has a unique way of identifying what is important to audiences and amplifying that whether through print, online or other mediums.”
