Attendance

Attendance counts
Students who are absent from school, miss out on learning. Improving student attendance is a key strategy to ensure students are on-track to learn and to reach their full potential.

PowerSchool

Use PowerSchool (preferred method) to notify the school of absences. Please include the reason for the absence in the comments section.

If a student is arriving late:
Students must check in at the front desk upon arrival and show their school ID.

If a student is leaving early:
Please report the dismissal at least two hours in advance whenever possible.

Important: The Attendance Office will not send or run a pass to the student. Students are responsible for knowing when they are scheduled to leave. For planned early dismissals, the approved departure time will be entered into PowerSchool and teachers will see the notification when taking attendance.

Because students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day, families may email their student with appointment or dismissal information.

In case of an emergency or for immediate response, please call the Main Office Secretary at 651-351-8040 or a student pony center.

Procedure for Reporting an Absence:

Please make every effort to report a student’s attendance before the start of the school day. Failure to notify the school results in an automated phone call from the school.

Daily attendance is expected for all students

All reasonable efforts should be made by families to ensure that students are in school each and every student contact day. Accurate attendance is a student’s responsibility. Students questioning accuracy may verify accurate attendance by checking with their respective classroom teacher on initial concerns in a timely manner. If there appears to be an error, the classroom teacher may contact the attendance office (within 24 hours) or the student’s Pony Center to validate or clear the record and avoid any errors.

All students must sign in/out with their classroom teacher when leaving class and with the Main Office Secretary when leaving the building early or entering after the start of the school day. Students who do not follow proper procedure may not be excused. Please provide a doctor’s note for absences due to illness or medical appointment whenever possible or when requested by the school.
