Prep & Pursuits: Built for Your Success

Need to catch up in class, explore a career, or lead a student group? Student Prep and Pony Pursuits give you dedicated time during the school day to succeed and get involved.

Whether you need quiet study time, teacher support, or a chance to join clubs, explore future pathways, and build leadership skills, these periods are designed around your needs. Use this built-in time to organize your week, connect with peers, and discover your next big thing!

Together, Student Prep and Pony Pursuits give every student greater access to academic support, enrichment, and future planning, helping you stay confident, connected, and ready for life after high school.

Student Prep

Student Prep is a structured academic period after second hour that gives every student consistent time during the school day to study, organize, complete work, and ask for help. It was developed in response to concerns about academic workload, student stress, and limited time to catch up.

During Student Prep, students may:

  • Complete homework

  • Study for tests and work on long-term projects

  • Check grades and plan upcoming assignments

  • Receive academic help

Pony Pursuits

Pony Pursuits is a required block built into our EVEN-day schedule (Periods 2, 4 and 6), that allows students to choose meaningful activities in three areas:

  • Community Building and Leadership: Clubs, committees, leadership groups, and cultural organizations

  • Academic Connection and Enrichment: Academic support centers, testing, certifications, PSEO support, and enrichment opportunities

  • College and Career Exploration: Career workshops, SchooLinks activities, college visits, employment support, internships, volunteerism, and guest speakers

Pony Pursuits is part of the regular school day, and attendance is required just like a class. Please avoid signing students out or scheduling appointments during this time so they can take full advantage of the opportunities available.
