Helping people and personal fulfillment are hallmarks of the Health Sciences & Human Services pathway. Students will have opportunities to take a variety of courses including human anatomy, personal fitness, psychology, and law and justice.

One could work in the public sector, such as a police officer, social worker or educator, or the private sector as a medical doctor, technologist, nutritionist or hospital administrator.

Accelerated Pathway Opportunity

We’ve partnered with Century College to design Accelerated Pathways - a unique Articulated College Credit (ACC) option. Don’t waste time taking the wrong classes. Accelerated Pathways clearly outline what classes you can take at SAHS that align with the required courses at Century College. Taking these courses will guarantee you college credit and accelerate your degree completion. You can use your credits to complete a two-year degree at Century or transfer them to any Minnesota state university.

An Associate of Science degree in Exercise Science can be completed in 60 credits. The Exercise Science program requires that 60 credit must be earned. It is possible to complete the degree with the listed courses in fewer than 60 credits. If a student finishes the degree requirements in fewer than 60 credits, students will be required to complete the remaining credits as electives that can be chosen from additional major electives requirements or general education coursework. Depending on the AP and CIS coursework students may not need additional coursework depending on credit totals.

Each college and university has residency requirements which require graduates to have earned a percentage of their credits at the college or University. In the Exercise Science pathway, students must complete a minimum of 20 credits at Century College in order to be eligible to graduate. By utilizing the customized Stillwater Area High School planning guide, with careful planning a student can complete up to 66% of a degree and finish their final 20 credits at Century College to graduate. Residency requirements will be reduced to 12 college-level credits if 8 or more college-level credits are transferred from at least one Minnesota State college or university or the University of Minnesota.

Students must have their official AP score report sent directly from the College Board to Century's Transfer Student Services Office. An AP exam score of 3 or higher will be considered for transfer.

Students who wish to complete courses in this pathway via PSEO can simply use the courses identified in the right hand column (Century College credits) to ensure degree requirements will be fulfilled.
