Every student has a path and our job is to help them find it! Pathways brings innovative changes to the traditional academic model, including real-world experiences and interest-based, relevant classes for students. We encourage students to approach their education with this lens: “What do I like?" + "What am I good at?" + "What do I want to be?" + "Where should I go?" Which leads them to SUCCESS.

We provide a variety of opportunities for all of our students to try new things and see what they like (and don't like). Whether they want to pursue a vocation or college degree, enter the military or go directly into the workforce, we're here to help them discover their future.

Your Journey

No matter where you are in your journey, these steps will help you achieve your long term goals!

We want students to learn for life, not just for school and the Stillwater Pathways provides the framework to do just that. Pathways can help you DISCOVER yourself, EXPLORE your options, PLAN your future and ACHIEVE your goals. You don't have to declare a pathway, but can pick and choose courses from any of the four paths offered. It's really about exploring courses that might interest you and finding out how classes and careers fit together.

Pathways isn't just a fancy program at Stillwater Area High School. Pathways is about helping each one of our students discover themselves and find their path.

Whether you want to go to college, join the military, or go directly into the workforce, we want to help you get there. Pathfinder will help you explore careers, learn about your strengths and interests, and navigate your future.

Who is Pathways for... ALL STUDENTS

Our goal is to provide additional opportunities for post- high school success to all of our students, whether they are pursuing a vocation or college degree, military or going directly into the workforce.

How does Pathways benefit students?

Research shows pathways programs lead to increased attendance, graduation rates, college attendance rates, an increased sense of belonging, and academic achievement gains for all students. We know students learn best when their learning is personalized and they can see the connection between the classroom and the real world. With pathways, students have a renewed sense of purpose, see the relevance of schoolwork and achieve more current and future success.

Discover talents and interests

Prepare students for any postsecondary option that fits a student’s passions and skills.
College and career guidance using inventory tools that focus on aptitudes, not just interests.
Exposes students to careers they may not have explored in the past.
Students are encouraged to explore multiple fields of study during their formative years.

Gain real-world experiences with local industries and community partners

A full continuum of work-based learning experiences, progressing in intensity, is accessible to every student at some point during the program of study.
Tours, mentors, job shadowing, internships and apprenticeships provide real-world experiences for students to explore and pursue careers.

Customize curriculum to careers

High levels of community and business engagement in the development of coursework, class- projects and experiences tied to career pathways.
Real-world learning experiences that make the classroom more relevant to their unique aptitudes and interests.
Sequenced courses expose students to post-secondary study, training, or work experience.

New This Year - Accelerated Pathways
We've partnered with Century College to design Accelerated Pathways - a unique Articulated College Credit (ACC) option. Three Accelerated Pathways are available this year: Business, Computer Science, and Exercise Science. Each college and university has residency requirements which require graduates to have earned a percentage of their credits at the college or University.
