Pathways Day

All 9th grade students will begin building their Personalized Learning Plan on Nov. 14.  Students experience the following activities:

• Participate in some career skills games and activities
• Begin their personalized learning plan by taking an interest inventory and learning about their personal learning styles
• Participate in a community service project. There are 19 projects to pick from. These projects will occur on and off campus.

Students will need to sign up to indicate their preferences for community service projects by October 24. Every student will participate in one project.

 

Pre-ACT & Community Service
 

Morning:
The PreACT will be administered to all students in tenth grade with no fee on November 14. The PreACT measures student progress toward college readiness, provides practice for the ACT test, and yields a predictive ACT score. The PreACT also includes a Career Assessment Tool that gives feedback on areas of students’ interests aligned with various career fields, which can provide helpful information related to career pathway exploration and guidance. All 10th grade students will be automatically registered for the PreACT.

All colleges accept both ACT and/or SAT scores, but the ACT is the dominant college admission test in the Midwest Region of the USA. Therefore, the PreACT is the recommended test for tenth grade students on November 14.

The PreACT is the only opportunities available to tenth grade students on November 14.

Afternoon:
Following testing, 10th grade students will participate in a community service project on campus. There are 17 options for students to sign up for.

Students will need to sign up to indicate their preferences for community service projects by October 24. Every student will participate in one project.

 

All 11th grade students will rotate through a variety of post-secondary activities on Nov. 14.  Students experience the following activities:

• Test Drive: a financial literacy simulation
• Post secondary planning: a session created by counselors
• Resume builder: begin creating a resume
• Admissions panel: Admission representatives explain what students should know about applying to college

Office hours: At the completion of the day’s activities, students will have a block of time for office hours. Students may stay on campus or if they have parent permission, they may leave.

Morning: College and Career Trips

Senior students will participate in one of three different college and career exploration opportunities:

Option 1 Field trip: Sign up to visit one Minnesota or Wisconsin public/private school in person.  Students can tour 1 school.  

Option 2 Meet with Military Reps.: Students meet with 5 branches of the Military representatives to learn about the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and the National Guard.

Option 3 Participate in a Career Tour: related to STEM and Healthcare or Construction, Manufacturing, Art & Design, and Business & Entrepreneurship.

Sign up for one option here by October 24.
 

Afternoon: Virtual College Tours or Office Hours

At the completion of the day’s activities, students will have a block of time to participate in a virtual college tour or office hours.

Virtual tours:
At the completion of the day’s activities, students can sign up to participate in one Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, or Wisconsin virtual tour. Students will watch a tour at school.

Office hours:
At the completion of the day’s activities, students will have a block of time for office hours. Students may stay on campus or if they have parent permission, they may leave.
